How I Drink More Water

Alright sis! So you want to drink more water but you can never seem to reach your daily goal? Ok. Grab a glass and start drinking. (I want it gone when you reach the bottom.) You’ve got this.

If you didn’t already know your body is made of 75% water! When you don’t drink enough water you become dehydrated. I’m sure you dont need a Paramedic to tell you this but, dehydration is bad bad bad, it’s a no from me! Dehydration can lead to heat injury, urinary and kidney problems, seizures, low blood volume/shock

How do I know if I am dehydrated? Easy. Here are some signs and symptoms to look out for.

  • Dry mouth and tongue
  • No tears when crying
  • In adults and children, less frequent urination
  • Listlessness or irritability
  • Extreme thirst
  • Dark-colored urine
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion

Any of these sound familiar? Sounds like you need more water, Love. Dry mouth, fatigue, thirst, and irritability particularly stand out to me. Here are my tips and tricks from someone who struggled with drinking water.

Get some cuuute water bottles you’ll be excited to drink out of!

What I look for in water bottles is a cute design and a straw! You would not believe how much easier it is to drink water if you are using a straw! An added bonus, they also help keep your teeth white!

My personal favorites:

Half Gallon Water Bottle
32 oz Water Bottle (love the motivational quotes on the side)
32 oz Water Bottle

Add flavor to your water!

Just because your drink isn’t solely water, doesn’t mean it doesn’t count towards your water intake!

My favorite *enhancers* to mix into my water:

  • water, lemon juice, and stevia: it makes a healthy alternative to lemonade
  • herbal tea: my favorites being roasted dandelion root tea, hibiscus tea, peppermint tea, lemon balm tea, passionflower tea, green tea, chamomile tea, licorice tea, and spearmint tea.
  • coconut water is another great alternative. If you’re like me and can’t get past the taste of plain coconut water I recommend for every 6-8oz of coconut water, you add 1 tbsp of either lemon or lime juice, and a dash of salt. *chef’s kiss*
  • mix in your supplements. For every one scoop of a supplement, I add 8-12 ounces of water.

Other tips for consuming water:

  • set a reminder on your phone to chug for 30 seconds every 30-60 minutes
  • get an app that will track how much water you’ve drank
  • I always find the less I have to fill up my water bottle the better so opt for a larger bottle

If you have read this far I hope you have at least drank a glass of water. Your body will get used to drinking more water and you won’t always have to pee every 5 minutes. Promise.
